Adéla Jergová (born 27 November 2003) is a Slovak singer, songwriter and dancer. She spent her teenage years training in ballet dance before expanding to music and competing in the 2023 talent competition reality show Dream Academy. After signing to Capitol Records, she released her debut extended play (EP), The Provocateur (2025).

She became the first Slovak artist in history to appear on the US Billboard Hot 100 with the single "Ain't in LA", which was followed with the top-ten hit "Nicole Kidman". The singles were released in support of her first studio album, Prima (2026), which peaked at number four on the Billboard 200 chart.

Biography

Adéla Jergová was born on 27 November 2003 in Bratislava, Slovakia. She began taking ballet lessons in Moscow and Bratislava, becoming a professional at the age of three; and taught herself English, starting at eight years old, by watching American television series and interviews with American singers. She has said that she was inspired to become a singer after watching the American teen sitcom Hannah Montana. Adéla moved to Vienna on her own to join the Vienna State Ballet at 14, to London to join the English National Ballet School at 15, and then back home at a friend's suggestion to pursue music. She enrolled on a college marketing course and spent the COVID-19 pandemic taking vocal lessons via Zoom.

In 2021, after reading an Elle piece about Olivia Rodrigo and her long-term vocal coach Jennifer Dustman, she contacted the latter and began working with her remotely. At her suggestion, she applied for Dream Academy, a programme by the joint venture Hybe x Geffen that received over 120,000 applications. After clearing three rounds via self-tapes and Zoom, she reached the final round, for which the label flew her to Los Angeles to spend two years training. An immediate standout, internal evaluations frequently featured Adéla in the top four for both dance and overall performance.

More than a year in, Hybe x Geffen put the final twenty against each other as part of a televised competition for spots in a band that later became Katseye. Adéla came joint-last following a fan vote after a group performance of Blackpink's "Pink Venom" during the show's first elimination mission, following which Hybe x Geffen president Mitra Darab said that she had come across more as a solo artist during training and development. Dream Academy featured in Netflix's 2024 behind-the-scenes docuseries Pop Star Academy: Katseye, in which Adéla was depicted comforting a contestant who had been eliminated during the final ten, tearfully instructing the other hopefuls that they did not need the competition and were "great" on their own, and criticizing another contestant; the lattermost led many viewers to label her a "mean girl". She remained in Los Angeles after being eliminated and started taking music classes at Santa Monica College.

In September 2024, she made her debut with the release of "Homewrecked", which Out named one of the best singles for the week of its release. Adéla's second single "Superscar" was released in October 2024. In 2024, she attended college in Los Angeles for music. Adéla's third single, "Machine Girl", was released in February 2025 and co-produced by Canadian musician Grimes, who reached out to Adéla after hearing "Homewrecked" on TikTok. Its music video co-starred actress Sofia Wylie and featured a cameo from Grimes. In May 2025, Adéla announced that she had signed with Capitol Records. Her next single, "Death by Devotion", was produced by Dylan Brady and Zhone and released in July 2025.

The Provocateur, her debut extended play (EP), was released on 22 August 2025. Alongside the EP, she released the single "Sex on the Beat" with a music video featuring a cameo from Christina Aguilera. The music video was followed in September 2025 by a choreography-only video. She performed on her first tour, The ProvocaTour, in October 2025.

During April and May 2026, she performed as the opening act for Demi Lovato's It's Not That Deep Tour. She released the single "KGB" the same month. The day after her final performance for the It's Not That Deep Tour, Adéla announced her headlining tour, the Red Bottoms tour, which began in late August 2026. Following the release of the single "Ain't in LA" in July 2026, she announced the release of her debut album, Prima, which was released on 4 September 2026. In August 2026, Adéla performed at Lollapalooza in Chicago, United States. Her set gained praise from several outlets. In September, she was nominated for the SOZA Award 2025 for the most successful young author, her first recognition from the music industry in Slovakia.

Throughout the summer of 2026, both of her singles "Ain't in LA" and "Nicole Kidman" went viral online, becoming her first and second entries on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart; with these singles, she also became the first Slovak artist in history to appear on the chart. "Ain't in LA" peaked in the top 40 while "Nicole Kidman" reached the top 10.

Artistry

Adéla has a soprano vocal range, and her music is classified as pop. She has described her lyrics, which often tackle her sexual expression, as "exaggerated" and "over-the-top" versions of the events of her life. She has cited Beyoncé and Lady Gaga as her biggest musical influences, calling herself "the biggest BeyHive you've ever fucking met", and listed Mariah Carey, Patti LaBelle, Whitney Houston, Céline Dion, and Aretha Franklin as early inspirations for her vocals and Imogen Heap, Ariana Grande, and Beyoncé as influential for her use of harmonies. She has also cited Britney Spears, Madonna, Janet Jackson, and Miley Cyrus as foundational pop inspirations. She has cited "Rock with U" by Jackson, "Bad Romance" by Lady Gaga, and Lemonade by Beyoncé as influences on her music videos.
